Fix and polish release

Amiga Imager v0.99.13

Amiga Imager now speaks German when your Mac does. This release also fixes a long-standing file system bug: files with accented names – español, français – and names longer than 30 characters were written so that the Amiga listed them but could not open them. Plus a reworked build progress, build and card write as one run, and corrected texts throughout.

  • German user interface and build log
  • Accented and long file names open on the Amiga
  • PiStorm: first-boot screen check runs, cleaner boot
  • One progress bar for build and card write

Fix and polish release - macOS 14+, Apple Silicon and Intel. Build: 261005.

Please rebuild your images

Every image built with an earlier version contains files the Amiga cannot open by name. Amiga Imager stored file names with accents or other non-English letters – for example the español, français and português catalogs – and names longer than 30 characters in a place where AmigaOS does not look for them. Workbench and List show these files, but opening them fails with "object not found", and a List ALL or Copy ALL of the system partition stops at the first one.

Images built with 0.99.13 are correct: on a freshly built PiStorm system, AmigaOS opened all 5,423 files and drawers by name. Images built earlier keep the problem until you build them again; the Disk Browser and Manage Amiga Software can still read and delete those files from the Mac.

German user interface

When macOS runs in German, Amiga Imager now shows its windows, messages and the build log in German; otherwise everything stays English. File names, AmigaDOS scripts and settings written to the Amiga are never translated. This is the first German version – if a text reads oddly, please tell us.

PiStorm

  • The screen mode and chipset check that is meant to run on the first boot never ran: its script was one of the files the Amiga could not open. It runs now.
  • Every PiStorm boot ran EMU68INFO variant. The current Emu68Info has no such command, so the word ended up in its experimental CPU settings option and was only rejected because it is not a number. The call is gone; the build writes the value (ENVARC:PistormVariant) directly.
  • macOS no longer drops Spotlight and event-log folders onto EMU68BOOT when a card goes back into the Mac.
  • The size of EMU68BOOT can be set in Settings → PiStorm (Custom FAT32 size). The old slider on the build screen had no effect – images were always built with 1 GiB.

Building

  • Build & Write to Card is one run: one progress banner (step 1 of 2, 2 of 2) with a working Cancel, and "Build complete", the notification and the elapsed time come after the card is written.
  • The progress bar only moves forward and ends at 100 %. The card write bar no longer starts over for the verify pass.
  • Cancel now also answers inside long steps (package installs, OS disks).
  • Configurations the build cannot handle are reported before any download starts, with advice that names the actual problem (RTG card, network card, accelerator) instead of "adjust the configuration".
  • The automatic image name uses today's date and the real card size.
  • Around 60 texts in the app and the build log were wrong or out of date and are corrected – for example "skipping IBrowse" for a browser that was installed a moment later.
  • Faster with big folders and long logs: folder scans run off the main window, no longer twice, and the log pane only adds new lines.
  • Wi-Fi "From this Mac" says why it found nothing (network never joined on this Mac, prompt declined).

Also

  • If you update from 0.99.11 or older: moving your tokens into the Keychain no longer removes the old copy before the Keychain has confirmed it.
  • Bundles amipkg 0.7.11 and installs amiagent 0.13.1, both unchanged from 0.99.12.
